In some examples, a package includes a package body enclosing a medical supply. The package body defines a window. The package includes a breathable membrane adjacent the package body and extending across the window. The package includes a moisture oxygen scavenger adjacent the package body and extending across the breathable membrane. The package includes an adhesive layer configured to hold the moisture oxygen scavenger adjacent the breathable membrane. In some examples, a technique includes sterilizing a package precursor including the package body and the breathable membrane, and after the sterilizing, adhering the moisture oxygen scavenger to the package body to form the package.
- Claim:
1. A package comprising: a package body enclosing a medical supply, wherein the package body defines a window; a breathable membrane adjacent the package body and extending across the window; a moisture oxygen scavenger adjacent the package body and extending across the breathable membrane; and and adhesive layer, wherein the adhesive layer is configured to hold the moisture oxygen scavenger adjacent the breathable membrane.

2. The package of claim 1, wherein the adhesive layer contacts a major surface defined by the moisture oxygen scavenger, and wherein the adhesive layer is between the package body and the moisture oxygen scavenger.

3. The package of claim 1, wherein the adhesive layer substantially surrounds the window.

4. The package of claim 3, wherein the adhesive layer is absent in a region extending across the window.

A method comprising: sterilizing a package precursor, wherein the package precursor comprises: a package body enclosing a medical supply, wherein the package body defines a window, and a breathable membrane adjacent the package body and extending across the window; and after sterilizing the package precursor, adhering a moisture oxygen scavenger extending across the breathable membrane to the package body to form a package.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the adhering comprises applying an adhesive layer between the moisture oxygen scavenger and the package body.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the adhering comprises pressing the moisture oxygen scavenger against the package body, wherein an adhesive layer is carried on a major surface defined by the moisture oxygen scavenger and between the package body and the moisture oxygen scavenger.

The method of claim 17, wherein the adhering comprises: aligning a backing layer with the moisture oxygen scavenger, wherein the moisture oxygen scavenger is between the backing layer and the package body; and pressing the backing layer against the package body, wherein an adhesive layer is carried on a major surface defined by the backing layer and between the package body and the moisture oxygen scavenger.
- Claim:
21. The method of claim 17, wherein the sterilizing comprises exposing an internal volume of the package precursor to ethylene oxide through the breathable membrane, and wherein the breathable membrane is gas- and moisture-permeable and microorganism- and liquid-impermeable.
- Claim:
22. The method of claim 17, further comprising forming the package precursor by introducing the medical supply in the package body through an opening defined by the package body, and sealing the opening.
