The glass finds excavated from the site of the Monastery of Sta. Clara-a-Velha (Coimbra) consists mainly of the glassware used by the religious female members of the mendicant Order of Poor Clares between the end of the 16th century and about 1677. Several different Renaissance and proto-Baroque glass traditions are documented by these glass finds, from Venise filigree products, façon de Venise decoration and diamond engraved colourless vases, to Catalonian and Islamic inspired forms and decoration, as well as a few Northern Europe patterns and some Baroque alike forms. Moreover, the author puts forward the probable origin of some of these glass finds. Some were imported, whereas others could well have been produced locally, at Côvo (Oliveira de Azeméis), where the production of glass itens goes back to the end of the 15th century at least.
