نبذة مختصرة : This study analyzes the use of social media by top-ranked (Q1) scientific journals in Communication and Library and Information Sciences (LIS), based on the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR). Employing a descriptive, quantitative methodology, the research examined journal websites and social media profiles on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. The study assessed social media activity in relation to publisher type and size, and compared trends across the two disciplines. Findings indicate higher social media adoption in Communication journals, with X being the most utilized platform. Notably, smaller and independently published journals exhibited greater social media engagement than those from large publishing houses.
