نبذة مختصرة : Microphthalmos is an uncommon developmental condition characterized by significantly smaller eyes than average, with an axial length that is at least two standard deviations lower than normal for the individual’s age group. This condition is quite uncommon, with a birth prevalence of only 0.002–0.017%. Posterior microphthalmos is a clinical entity that presents as shortened eyeball, but the shortening is confined to the posterior segment. The patient generally presents with high hypermetropia with or without convergence squint. Detecting posterior microphthalmos requires specific investigations like optical coherence tomography. There are only a few cases of posterior microphthalmos that have been documented until today.
