The aim of the study. To determine the ffect of polymorphism of glutathione-S-transferase class M1 and NAT2 genes on the efficacy of tuberculosis treatment. Material and methods. The genes polymorphism of the xenobiotic detoxification system was determined with polymerase chain reaction. Results. The presence of deletion of the functional zone in GSTM1 gene polymorphic sites increased the risk of low efficacy of tuberculosis treatment and indicated lower chances of resorption of focal-infiltrative changes in the lungs. It was also associated with a low probability of termination of bacterial excretion [OR = 0.07, p = 0.002]. The 0-genotype of the GSTM1 gene was protective against the onset of PDTB. Conclusions. The 0-genotype of the GSTM1 gene is protective against the appearance of tuberculosis. The presence of deletion of the functional zone of the polymorphic site of the GSTM1 gene increases the risk of low efficacy of tuberculosis treatment, is associated with the lowest chances of resorption of focal-infiltrative changes in the lungs, and is accompanied by a low probability of early termination of bacterial excretion.
