Precipitation and occurrence of flood and flooding in the urban area of nova Mutum/MT-Brazil ; Precipitação e ocorrência de inundação e alagamentos na área urbana de nova Mutum/MT-Brasil

The current accelerated urbanization process has caused significant impacts in the urban areas, such as the impermeability of soils, which is still unfeasible due to the rainwater drainage system that does not always meet the demands of growth. In light of this situation, the purpose of this study was to analyze rainfall in the last thirty-six years, correlating with urban expansion to assess the probabilities of possible increases in the incidence of flooding and flooding in the urban area of Nova Mutum/MT - Brazil. For the study, a bibliographical survey was carried out in order to understand how other works portray the problem and also about the city's expansion process. Afterwards, a survey of news on local websites was carried out, portraying occurrences of flooding and flooding, and a field trip to observe the areas with the highest incidences produced. Rainfall data were obtained from historical series from 1985 to 2020 from the Hidroweb database of the Agency Nacional das Águas (ANA). After applying the analysis methodology, it was found that the rainfall, for the periods that were necessary for the events of flooding and flooding, were not sufficient to cause the phenomenon, which may be associated with urban planning where there is a misdirection of rainwater drainage. ; O atual processo de urbanização acelerado tem provocado impactos significativos nas áreas urbanas como, por exemplo, a impermeabilização dos solos, o que é inviabilizado ainda pelo sistema de drenagem pluvial, que nem sempre atende às demandas de crescimento urbano. Diante dessa situação, o objetivo deste trabalho foi fazer uma análise das medições pluviométricas em um período de trinta e seis anos, correlacionando com a expansão urbana para avaliar as probabilidades de possíveis aumentos na incidência de alagamentos e inundações na área urbana de Nova Mutum/MT – Brasil.
