نبذة مختصرة : Objective: to map the national scientific manuscripts themed on play and games. Methods: This literature review study is classified as a State of the Art. Forty journals in the Physical Education thematic area were analyzed, indexed by Qualis Capes in area 21 (2017-2020), which published studies related to Physical Education. The sample consisted of 28 articles found in nine journals. The keywords used for this research were: “play and games” and “school”. The results were organized into categories: 1) Year of publication; 2) Methodological composition; 3) Groups that composed the sample; 4) Complementary thematic; 5) Geographic distribution. Results: There was a period of nine years without publications (1996-2005), due to the low appreciation of academic literature on School Physical Education, as well as on pedagogical studies in general. During the period of this research, there was a greater number of empirical (71.4%) studies compared to theoretical studies (28.6%). This research highlights studies with a learning approach. The highest concentration of publications is in the Southeast region, with a total of 60.7% of articles. Conclusion: This study enables a deeper understanding of the characteristics of scientific publications on play and games and is expected to motivate authors to improve the research on this topic. ; Objetivo: mapear los manuscritos científicos nacionales con temática de juegos.
