Diseño de un sistema de riego por goteo para el Valle de la Chira (septiembre 2018)

Una de los problemas que atraviesa el país, y que afecta el desarrollo de algunas regiones en el Perú es la escasez y el uso indebido del agua en el sector agrícola. Según el ex ministro Milton Martin, en el 2012 nuestro país ha perdido 300 mil hectáreas de tierra de cultivo en los últimos 20 años por el mal uso de los recursos hídricos [1]. Según el Director Administrativo de agua Caplina Ocoña, Ronal Fernández, el Perú ocupa el puesto 37 a nivel mundial por el mal uso del agua [2]. Lo cual es preocupante. Adicionalmente, el funcionario Abelardo De La Torre indica que la agricultura se lleva el 80% del agua que se distribuye en el país, y que para viviendas se destina más del 10%. En agricultura, agrega, hay un alto desperdicio de agua y solo se usa el 30% del recurso que se distribuye pues hay una “cultura muy primitiva y la infraestructura es rústica” [3].
