“O menino suspenso na memória': a infância na poesia de Drummond

This dissertation presents as research problem the following proposal: can the presence and feeling of childhood be seen as one of the central themes of Carlos Drummond de Andrade poetry? For this, it seeks to investigate how the childhood theme is present in the work of Drummond, before the memorial trilogy Boitempo (1968/1973/1979), in which the childhood memories, in fact, are the main topic in question. In this way, it has as main objective to observe how the presence and feeling of childhood are constituted among some poems developed in the 30s and 60s, taking in to account that, at this time, the poet develops contents more properly related to the social and political issues. It is intended, on the one hand, to better understand how the concept of childhood is re-signified by the poet, and, on the other hand, what takes him, subsequently, to dedicate himself to the present theme for 11 consecutive years. Thus, throughout the work we highlight some of the books and poems that may present a greater relevance to this discussion, among them: Alguma poesia (1930), Brejo das Almas (1934), Sentimento do mundo (1940), José (1942) e Rosa do povo (1945).
