نبذة مختصرة : INTRODUCTION: Since there is growing evidence that the patient's preoperative nutritional state is related to poor survival in a range of cancer forms, many nutritional indicators have been investigated for their possible relevance in predicting a bad prognosis. The serum albumin, globulin, and albumin globulin ratio is a helpful indicator of a patient's nutritional status in clinical practice. OBJECTIVES: 1. To demonstrate that serum albumin and globulin can be used as a biomarker for prognosis in lung cancer. 2. To assess the correlation of albumin globulin ratio with one year survival rate of lung cancer patients. 3. To assess potentiality of serum albumin as an independent prognostic marker in cancer. METHODOLOGY: The prospective study among 50 subjects was among subjects diagnosed with Primary Lung Cancer patients started on Chemotherapy irrespective of their Metastatic status was included in the study. Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease, with Chronic Liver Disease, Cancer patients with primary other than lung and Autoimmune Diseases were excluded from the study. The study subjects were followed up with their albumin globulin ratio at 3rd month, 6th month and 12th month and assessed for the prognosis. The data was entered into Microsoft excel and analysed using SPSS 23. RESULTS: The mean Serum protein (g/dl) among the subjects was 6.91 (± 0.98) g/dl ranging from 4.8 to 8.1 g/dl. Among the subjects, 9 (18%) had Hypoalbuminemia. The mean A/G ratio at 3rd month among the subjects was 1.43 (± 0.48) .The mean A/G ratio at 6th month among the subjects was 1.48 (± 0.55). The mean A/G ratio at 12th month among the subjects was 1.48 (± 0.66). Among the subjects, 27 (54%) had Normal and 23 (46%) had Decreased Albumin Globulin Ratio at 3rd month. Among the subjects, 32 (64%) had Normal and 18 (36%) had Decreased Albumin Globulin Ratio at 6th month. Among the subjects, 33 (66%) had Normal and 17 (34%) had Decreased Albumin Globulin Ratio at 12th month. 38.09%, 47.05% and 50% of subjects at 3rd month, 6th month and ...
