      The purpose of this work was to analyze the approaches granted to the "Estado Novo" in Brazilian textbooks on the History of Secondary Education, from the most distributed collections of the National Program of Textbooks (PNLD) 2015, a period in which there were significant innovations regarding the perspectives for studies on this topic. Using the concepts of Representation and Appropriation of Roger Chartier, we tried to examine the representations of this phase through five categories, among them the figure of the negro, the woman, the people, the Vargas and the pedagogical proposal of the authors around the activities. To that end, were studied the collections, History, Society & Citizenship (Editora FTD, 2013), by Alfredo Boulos Júnior; The Brazilian and Global History (Editora Saraiva 2nd edition, 2013), by Gilberto Cotrim and History; from the Caves to the Third Millennium (Editora Moderna 3ª edição-2013), by Patricia Ramos Braick and Myriam Becho Mota, due to the widespread acquisition of these titles by the public schools in Brazil. Therefore, we aim to contribute to the expansion of the knowledge about Brazilian school historiography regarding the approaches made to the Estado Novo, according to the different representations of that period. ; Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES ; O propósito deste trabalho consistiu em analisar as abordagens conferidas ao Estado Novo nos livros didáticos brasileiros de História do Ensino Médio, a partir das coleções mais distribuídas do Programa Nacional dos Livros Didáticos (PNLD) 2015, período em que ocorreram inovações significativas quanto às perspectivas voltadas para os estudos sobre esse tema. Utilizando os conceitos de Representação e Apropriação de Roger Chartier, procuramos examinar as representações dessa fase através de cinco categorias, entre elas, a figura do negro, da mulher, do povo, de Vargas e a proposta pedagógica dos autores em torno das atividades.
