Territoriality in peri-urban mode in the western Algiers periphery ; Territorialité en mode périurbain dans la périphérie Algéroise Ouest

International audience ; In the western part of the Mitidja plain in Algeria, housing development has evolved from the initial embryo of the colonial village, to the proliferation of privately-initiated individual housing estates and vertical housing settlements in recent years. These recent developments are part of the country's situation (national tragedy.) and the effects of restructuring and Algeria's recent agricultural policy. (Imache et al, 2011).These different forms of settlement have triggered a process of successive micro-urbanization that is gradually spreading across the plain's agrarian territory. We'll be looking at the ways in which people live in these areas, particularly in terms of how the new inhabitants are rooted in them (Cote, 2013) and the ways in which they appropriate them. Jacques Lévy theorized this idea by contrasting the "Amsterdam model" and the "Johannesburg model", clearly leaning in favor of the former to the detriment of the latter on their territory.Moreover, the new peripheral urbanizations respond to the 'expectations' of many citizens concerned with their (own) quality of life, even if this comes at the price of road dependency and - much worse - a strong externalization of costs, in time (deferral to future generations), in space (traffic nuisance, concentrated elsewhere) and among 'disadvantaged' social categories (Freney,2014). ; Dans la partie occidentale de la plaine de la Mitidja en Algérie, le développement de l’habitat s’est fait à partir d’un embryon initial qui est le village colonial avec depuis quelques années la multiplication des lotissements individuels d’initiative privée ou encore des implantations d’habitat vertical. Ces développements récents s’inscrivent dans la situation du pays (tragédie nationale…) que dans les effets de la restructuration et de la récente politique agricole algérienne. (Imache et al, 2011).Ces différentes formes d’habitat ont déclenché un processus de micro- urbanisation successives qui parsème progressivement le territoire agraire ...
