Introduction: Dizziness compromises body balance and may increase the risk of falls. Objective: To verify the relationship between risk of falling, level of confidence in activities involving balance and age with values of gain and asymmetry of the semicircular canals (CSCs) through the Video Head Impulse Test in patients with vestibular dysfunction. peripheral. Method: Cross-sectional study approved by the Research Ethics Committee, opinion number: 2,809,558. Twelve subjects were submitted to the Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale (ABC Scale), Dynamic Gait Index (DGI), clinical balance assessment and Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT). Data analyzed descriptively, applying the Spearman correlation coefficient (rho). Results: The sample was characterized by female prevalence (75%), mean of 59.83 years. It was found an average of 19.8 points in DGI and 43.65% in ABC Scale. A moderate-grade Spearman correlation was observed between age with DGI, and DGI and ABC Scale with some parameters analyzed in vHIT. Conclusion: It was concluded that the evaluation with different instruments used in this study allowed us to identify relationships between higher risk of falls in patients with vestibular hypofunction in the left anterior canal, low confidence level to perform daily activities in the face of greater asymmetry among CSC and increased risk of falling with advancing age. The prevalence of hypofunction for the posterior right and anterior left CSCs, asymmetry between the anterior and posterior pairs in vHIT, is also highlighted. Participaram ...
