      The Brazilian educational scenario has experienced an intense process of change in school curriculum that impacts the formation and work of Science and Biology teachers. As a result of neoliberal influence increasingly in the formulation of public policies for education, legislations and normatives are compulsorily standardizing curriculum prescriptions, teaching methods and pedagogical materials throughout the country, while large-scale assessments are becoming more decisive in verifying what teachers are teaching and serving to supervise whether prescribed curriculum are being strictly followed and realized. In this context, the Common National Curriculum Base and High School Reform have been decisive for engender profound changes in teaching and educational systems, as they directly affect content to be taught and modify the forms of production and selection of school knowledge. It is changing teaching practices because brings new subjects to dispute the school curriculum against already stabilized subjects, such as Biology. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to present an initial analysis of this conjuncture, especially aiming at the curriculum transformations that are developing in the state of Minas Gerais (MG) - Brazil. In this movement, reflections based on preliminary data of a research in progress that involves investigation of official documents and interviews conducted with teachers of Science and Biology of public schools are raised. Thus, we discuss the curriculum processes that have led to the loss of space of Biology in mining curriculum.
