نبذة مختصرة : This study refers to a qualitative research developed within the scope of the Course Completion Work-TCC of the Specialization in Literacy, which started from the question: How does the continuing education of literacy teachers contribute to the teaching professional practice? The general objective was to investigate the process of continuing education of literacy teachers, from the specific objectives: to understand the importance of continuing education of literacy teachers; to analyze the challenges faced during this training; knowledge and identify continuing education policies for literacy teachers. We support the studies in Tardif (2004), Freire (2007), Imbernón (2010), Ferreiro (2011), Soares (2013), Cruz and Martiniak (2016) and public education policies. The bibliographical research analyzed articles obtained from the base of the Brazilian Literacy Journal-RBA and the National Association of Postgraduate and Research in Education-ANPED. The research reaffirmed the importance of educational policies in encouraging and implementing the continuing education of literacy teachers, pointed out that the challenges range from the lack of debate on contemporary issues in schools to the absence of effective dialogue with educational policies, revealed a significant impact on the practice of literacy teachers and showed that teaching experiences become a fundamental component. ; Este estudo refere-se a uma pesquisa qualitativa desenvolvida no âmbito do Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso-TCC da Especialização em Alfabetização, que partiu da indagação: como a formação continuada de professores alfabetizadores contribui com a prática profissional docente?
