نبذة مختصرة : This video is part of a series of videos that document James Earl Danieley lecturing during the class he teaches each Winter term at Elon University called Elon: Past, Present, Future. Included in all the videos in the collection, he discusses a number of topics that relate to the history of Elon University. Specifically, in this video he discusses major topics that include: William Wesley Staley’s family; Staley’s influences on Elon College; loan pay-offs on the college property by an Elon preacher and a wealthy banker from New York City in the era of the 1890’s; while Danieley served as Elon’s President, Leon Edgar Smith (Elon’s President from 1931-1957) wanted to serve on the Board of Trustees; 1904 the debt was paid off; Francis Asbury Palmer (a wealthy New Yorker) provided Elon with monetary giving; during Danieley’s time as President, buildings were built in honor of former Elon Presidents; President Leo Michael Lambert (President of Elon 1999-present) working on a $100 million dollar endowment campaign; gifting of the McEwen Library from Mrs. Iris (James) McEwen; Frederick College financially goes bankrupt; James Earl Danieley offering Frederick College students enrollment at Elon College; Fred Beasley provided money for scholarships to the Frederick College students; and B.F. Black (a student) beginning his career as a curator provided art donations to Elon College.
