Représentations du cancer du sein chez l'homme : impact sur la prise en soin en mammographie et radiothérapie

Objective The aim of the present study is to give more importance to men who have or have had breast cancer, which is a disease affecting them considerably, of which there is little discussion or literature. Secondly, it is to show that the representation medical staff may have about male breast cancer can have repercussions on the care of their patients. Methodology Two questionnaires were carried out and then distributed to radiographers in different mammography and radiotherapy departments. A total of 16 people participated in this study. Results 100% had no difficulty taking care of a man with breast cancer, 25% of radiographers found men more stressed than women and 87.5% found the patient uncomfortable during their care. In addition to that, for the mammography, 87.5% of radiographers were comfortable during the care compared to 100% for people who work in radiotherapy. Conclusion The results of this study show that in the medical field, the subject is relatively unknown by staff, which has an impact on relations with male patients with breast cancer, and it remains difficult for men to come to terms with their disease. Also, there is still a lack of knowledge on this subject for society in general. ; Objectifs Les objectifs de cette étude sont 1) d’évaluer de quelle manière les représentations qu’ont les soignants (plus précisément les manipulateurs en radiologie dans cette étude) sur le cancer du sein masculin peuvent avoir des répercussions sur la prise en soin des patients qui en sont atteints ; 2) sensibiliser les soignants au cancer du sein chez les hommes, puisqu’il s’agit d’une maladie qui ne les touche que très peu et dont on entend peu parler au quotidien ainsi que dans la littérature.
