      Since the 1990s, we have witnessed the emergence of a francophone identity, based on a shared language and a plurality of cultures. However, the francophone book industry still suffers from certain power relationships that place France far ahead compared to other French-speaking regions, sidelining several French-speaking literary productions. French publishing production floods both the French and foreign book markets, while foreign French-language publishing productions struggle to find a place on French bookseller shelves. This French hegemony is due to various historical, cultural, and industrial factors. Since the 2020s, governments and books professionals have shown some willingness to resolve this imbalance and allow all players in the French-speaking literary world to find their place. One example is the holding of the last Etats Généraux du livre en langue française in Tunis, in 2021, where many topics were discussed. One of them was the difficulties faced by foreign French-speaking authors to get a publication in France, or just to be read by French readers. This thesis aims to illustrate how the bookshops specializing in foreign French-speaking literature in Paris play a role in this rebalance. The bookstores Présence Africaine, Wallonie-Bruxelles, and Librairie du Québec offer privileged spaces for African, Belgian, and Quebec francophone literature, where publishers and authors from the French-speaking world are showcased through a variety of animations, setup and literary events. Foreign public authorities provide financial support for some of these bookshops, and all carry out complementary activities, particularly book distribution.
