The adaptation process often receives criticism regarding its fidelity. From the perspective of adaptation as a translation from one medium to another, this article aims to analyze the similarities and divergences between the naturalist novel Thérèse Raquin, published in 1867 by the French writer Émile Zola, and the film In Secret, produced in the United States in 2013. This analysis is based on the theoretical studies of Claus Clüver (2011) on intermediality, Irina Rajewsky's (2012) process of media transposition, and Linda Hutcheon's (2013) theory of adaptation. ; O processo de adaptação costuma receber críticas referente à sua fidelidade. Partindo da perspectiva da adaptação como tradução de uma mídia a outra, este artigo tem por objetivo analisar semelhanças e divergências entre o romance naturalista Thérèse Raquin, publicado em 1867 pelo escritor francês Émile Zola, e o filme Em Segredo, produzido nos Estados Unidos em 2013, apoiando-se nos estudos teóricos de Claus Clüver (2011) sobre intermidialidade, no processo de transposição midiática de Irina Rajewsky (2012), e na teoria da adaptação de Linda Hutcheon (2013).
