Tratamiento con nutrición enteral en pediatría

Bearing in mind the effects that malnutrition can generate on children (growth failure, prolonged hospitalization, increased morbidity.), the EN comes up as an important resource. Therefore, and as the main objective of this FDP, an assistance protocol has been developed for the pediatric service of the Castellón General Hospital in order to facilitate the use of enteral nutrition in paediatric patient. For the purpose of its later application in the health department a search of the most recent bibliography on the subject was carried out. The indications of enteral nutrition, how to assess nutritional status and calculate nutritional requirements, types of formulations available, the characteristics of each enteral access, the methods and rhythms of administration as well as the necessary material with their care and complications, are developed in the protocol. There is also a detailed list of the special formulas and feeding material available at the hospital. ; La malnutrición hospitalaria en niños oscila entre 6-40% en función de los criterios utilizados. Teniendo en cuenta los efectos que la desnutrición puede tener en ellos (fallo crecimiento, hospitalizaciones prolongadas, aumento de la morbilidad…) la nutrición enteral cobra especial interés. Por tanto, y como objetivo principal de este TFG, se ha elaborado un protocolo asistencial para el servicio de Pediatría del Hospital General de Castellón para facilitar el uso de nutrición enteral en los pacientes pediátricos. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda de la bibliografía más actualizada sobre el tema con el propósito de su posterior aplicación en el departamento de salud.
