There is a growing research interest in the mental health of society, especially in children. Children and adolescents may experience a variety of mental health difficulties. Anxiety and depression are among the most common. Therefore, it is necessary to address their early recognition. Early psychodiagnostics of these disorders can help facilitate timely psychosocial intervention and prevent their onset. The aim of this thesis is to validate the RCADS-C questionnaire in a Czech population of children aged 7-12 years. The RCADS-C questionnaire helps professionals to screen for anxiety and depression symptoms in children. The sub- steps of the work were to take analytical steps to verify the construct, convergent and divergent validity, as well as internal reliability of the mentioned instrument. These findings were obtained through confirmatory factor analyses, correlations with the GAD-7, PHQ-9, WHO-5 and additionally through the Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency between items. The results support the assumptions for the validity and reliability of the RCADS-C questionnaire in a non-clinical population of younger school-aged children. Taking demographics into account, girls show higher anxiety and depression symptoms than boys. Scores also change significantly with school grade.
