نبذة مختصرة : The general objective of this work was to make a comparative analysis on the use of insemination in beef cattle in Brazil and in the United States. The methodology used was a bibliographic review. The United States continues to lead the world's beef production. The US has a smaller herd than Brazil and even so has a higher meat production. This happens due to different factors that generate greater reproduction efficiency and average weight gain until slaughter. Brazil uses different reproductive management techniques to improve the beef production system. The use of artificial insemination (AI) in Brazil has shown significant growth in recent years, which demonstrates an increase of rural producers that are investing in genetic strategies to increase the productivity and efficiency of their herds. The development of the fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) technique, which controls the estr-us cycle of females through hormonal treatments, determining the moment of ovulation, allowed the increase of AI in the Brazilian herd, both by reducing dependence on the observation of estrus as the use in anestrus cows. Thus, it is important to develop new studies that may help to understand better the new technologies for estrus and performing artificial insemination in bovine to help improve reproductive management.
