نبذة مختصرة : This study aims to determine interpersonal communication strategies in improving the mental health of the elderly in the Gamelan Community "Margso Laras" Ngebel Village. Overall this research uses descriptive qualitative research. Where qualitative research is research using a natural background with the intention of understanding what phenomena experienced by research subjects, for example behavior, perception, motivation, action, by way of description in the form of language and words, in a special natural context by utilizing various methods scientific. In carrying out a research, there are many types of methods that can be used. The results of this study indicate interpersonal communication in improving the mental health of the elderly in the gamelan community "Margo Laras" Ngebel Village, namely in the process of learning gamelan exercises between one elderly and another in the form of daily communication. Communication plays an important role in the learning process, interpersonal communication is the most effective communication in the learning process and is able to convey information optimally between one elderly and another. This approach has been implemented but has not achieved maximum results, due to several factors that facilitate and hinder ongoing interpersonal communication. The supporting factor is seen from the reciprocity in the learning process of the ongoing exercise. While the inhibiting factor is that there are some missing material being taught so that it is necessary to repeat and slow down the learning process.
