This article discusses issues related to religious experience and its importance in philosophical considerations. It primarily refers to those theoretical concepts and interpretative perspectives which are directly related to philosophical (humanistic) interpretations of the Biblical Book of Job. The emergence of the figure of Job pondered from the viewpoint of various philosophical (humanistic) approaches, provided a stimulus for the development of important concepts related to the presence of the sacred element in the specifically human world. Referring to the selected interpretations of this biblical figure (I. Kant, J. Danielou, R. Girard, C. G. Jung, S. Kierkegaard, L. Shestov), the reflections presented here emphasise the enduring relevance of ‘Job’s experience’ and its importance for a deeper and more extensive understanding of the specificity of religious experience as a dimension of human experience explained in philosophical terms.
