نبذة مختصرة : 'Epigenomics', the study of how epigenetic mechanisms influence the gene expression of inherited DNA, is set to become an important means of determining the mechanisms of pathogenesis of many human diseases. A major effort to decode the human epigenome is under way, and in this issue its organizers explain the aims of the project, the Alliance for the Human Epigenome and Disease (AHEAD). Work on the human epigenome is likely to produce a wealth of possible new drug targets for the pharmaceuticals industry. Laura Bonetta reports on the techniques and services now available for those unravelling the human epigenome.
