      The article describes the emergency response process associated with the salmonella outbreak in the Alamosa, Colorado water supply. While the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) led the response, other agencies were also involved, including the Water Quality Control Division, the Disease Control and Environmental Epidemiology Center, and the Consumer Protection Division. The author discusses the monitoring of wastewater treatment and the interaction of numerous federal, state and local entities to address the epidemic. Also discussed is how the efficiency of the response was facilitated by preparedness funds.
