Oxidative Stress in Sows and Their Selenium Nutritional Requirements.

Oxidative stress refers to a state of imbalance between oxidative and antioxidant effects in the body. Sows will have oxidative stress in special reproductive periods such as estrus, pregnancy, childbirth and lactation, especially in the last month of pregnancy when the fetus develops rapidly and severe metabolic load leads to systemic oxidative stress. When affected by oxidative stress, sows may experience adverse symptoms such as reduced feed intake, fetal development obstruction or miscarriage, decreased lactation, increased weight loss, prolonged estrus interval, which negatively regulate reproductive and lactation performance. Selenium is an essential trace element involved in the synthesis of various mammalian selenium proteins. Almost half of the selenium proteins participate in the protection against oxidative stress through peroxidase/reductase activity and redox signaling. This article summarized the oxidative stress, antioxidant stress, the nutrition and application of selenium, and the nutritional requirements of selenium in sows, in order to provide theoretical reference for the rational selection and application of selenium in production practice. 氧化应激是指机体内氧化与抗氧化作用失衡的一种状态，母猪在发情, 妊娠, 分娩和哺 乳等特殊生殖时期会出现氧化应激，特别是在妊娠最后 1 个月，胎儿迅速发育，严重的代谢负荷会导 致母猪全身性氧化应激。当受到氧化应激影响时，母猪会出现采食量减少, 胎儿发育受阻或流产, 泌 乳量降低, 体重损失增大, 发情间期延长等不良症状，对繁殖性能和泌乳性能产生负面调控。硒是一 种必需的微量元素，参与多种哺乳动物硒蛋白的合成，几乎一半的硒蛋白通过过氧化物酶/还原酶活 性和氧化还原信号参与对氧化应激的保护。文章综述了母猪的氧化应激, 抗氧化应激及硒的营养与 应用注意事项, 母猪硒的营养需要量，以期为母猪生产实践中合理选择应用硒提供理论参考。 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
