The article focuses on a new study by Catalyst, a nonprofit research firm in New York City, which suggests that young people are heading into their planned careers as idealistic as ever. A poll of 377 students at six colleges found that 89% thought "superior performance" was the key factor in advancement, along with enthusiasm, good attitude, assertiveness and self-confidence. Catalyst also found that 95% of the men polled, and 91% of the women, planned to work full-time for most of their adult lives, though 83% also intended to have children--many two or more.
