      Free-moving roller mechanisms are widely used in the propulsion systems of modern equipment. The surrounding rings of such mechanisms are affected by a normal strong load, which leads to significant radial deformation.They usually do not calculate the radial deformation of the surrounding ring, and give the geometric parameters in accordance with the design recommendations. There is no theoretical or experimental study of the stiffness of the surrounding ring. The results of the test of the effect of transmitted pressure (torque) and design parameters of the freemoving roller mechanism (instantaneous stopping angle and number of stopping rollers) on the radial deformation of the ring are shown. The accuracy of the proposed empirical dependence for the calculation of the radial deformation of the surrounding ring has been confirmed experimentally. For the vast majority of tests, the difference between the experimental and theoretical values of radial deformation was 2.9...17.5%.Experiments have shown that the increase in radial deformation with increasing pressure is slightly delayed and varies with degree of dependence; Increasing the instantaneous stopping angle from 5o to 9o leads to a reduction of radial deformation by 1.28- 1.51 times, while reducing the number of rollers from 3 to 5 reduces it by 1.5- 1.7 times.
