Capture of a male jaguar using a Minimally Invasive Capture System (MICS) at the Brazilian Atlantic forest

Fieldwork and management of the animals were undertaken under permission nº 54218 of Sistema de Autorização e Informação em Biodiversidade (SISBIO) of Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) - Ministério do Meio Ambiente (MMA) of Brazil. The capture of large felids was also authorized by the Ethics and Animal Welfare Committee of Universidade Vila Velha (Opinion n° 412-2017 / CEUA-UVV). And the use of live bait was au-thorized by the Ethics and Animal Welfare Committee of Universidade Vila Velha (Opinion n° 435-2017 / CEUA-UVV). ; The video shows the sequence of the capture of an adult male jaguar at the Vale Natural Reserve (Espíritu Santo, Brazil) on 2nd July 2019. When the jaguar arrived at the capture point he triggered three foot-snares set surrounding the carcass. A few minutes after we remotely (about 300 m from the carcass) shot a dart and immobilized the jaguar.
