WOMEN TRADERS IN THE NORTH OF THE PERUVIAN VICEROYALTY (1780-1821) ; MUJERES COMERCIANTES EN EL NORTE DEL VIRREINATO PERUANO (1780-1821)

Even though there has been a lot of research published about trade by men, it is also necessary to pay attention to the effort women have made in contributing to the domestic economy, alone or beside their husbands or relatives. This article will identify not only the women from elite social classes, but also women from lower classes in order to verify their contribution to the internal commerce of the northern Peruvian viceroyalty. ; Si bien se ha publicado abundantemente acerca del comercio liderado por los varones, es también necesario prestar atención al esfuerzo de las mujeres en su contribución a la economía familiar, solas o al lado de esposos u otros parientes. Este artículo identificará tanto a mujeres de la elite social como a las de clases bajas para verificar su aporte al comercio interno del norte del virreinato peruano.
