MOVIMENTAÇÕES TRANSIMPERIAIS ENTRE CARIBE E MARANHÃO (séculos XVII e XVIII)

O presente artigo explora os registros portugueses da movimentação de militares, corsários e comerciantes europeus no Estado do Maranhão, provenientes de diferentes locais do Caribe. Os documentos do Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino – Projeto Resgate apontam algumas ocorrências de presença de franceses, holandeses, ingleses e espanhóis no Maranhão, individualmente ou em grupo, do início do século XVII a té o início do século XIX. Esses registros governamentais manifestam interesses, desconfi anças e providências quanto aos casos elencados e, por isso, servem para discutir alguns pontos da história do Maranhão no período a partir da perspectiva teórica da História Global. TRANSIMPERIAL MOVEMENTS BETWEEN THE CARIBBEAN AND MARANHÃO (17th and 18th centuries)AbstractThis article explores the portuguese records of the movement of european soldiers, corsairs and traders in the State of Maranhão, from different locations in the Caribbean. The documents of the Overseas Historical Archive – Rescue Project point out some occurrences of the presence of french, dutch, english and spanish in Maranhão, individually or in group, from the beginning of the 17th century to the beginning of the 19th century. These government records express interests, suspicions and measures regarding the listed cases and, therefore, it serves to discuss some points in the history of Maranhão in the period from the theoretical perspective of Global History.Keywords: Colonial America.
