نبذة مختصرة : This work problematizes the archetypal image of the Master-Apprentice in dialogue with the Analytical Psychology of the psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung and the Imaginary theories of the anthropologist Gilbert Durand and the philosopher and epistemologist Gaston Bachelard. The study has as research objective letters written to teacher who left marks in students from three institutions (UFPel, IFSul and UERGS) whose investigation was developed by the Studies and Research Group on Imaginary, Education and Memory (GEPIEM). It has as research problem knowing how the archetype image of of the master-apprentice emerges in letters to the teachers from the past. And as a general objective, it seeks to uncover and to problematize the said archetype. There were chosen from four letters in order to problematize the archetype polarities constellated in the images found in the letters and their contributions to education. For the analysis it was used the symbolic amplification, based on the method created by Jung to favor the symbolic elaboration in his archetype arguments. The four letters are called: Diamond-Letter, Mother-Letter (positive polarity) and Sneeze-Letter and Pee-Letter (negative polarity). The data of the research evidenced a perspective of the apprentice, since the senders of the letters were subject to whom the protagonism was given. It was noticed a "symbolic pragnanz" indicating the presence of the Greek god Hermes in all the letters which makes it possible to think of hermetic attributes in the processes of teacher formation, linked to the Psychopomp god, a conductor of souls. Through this god, the teacher can obtain a more sympathetic look concerning to the psychic life of his/her student and to his/her own psychic life.
