      Within the reality of public schools, the problems that affect the education system in general, especially the teaching of chemistry, have become constant. Scientific investigation is an interesting alternative, as it is aligned with the processes of construction and breadth of knowledge not only for students, but also for the school community. The teaching approach developed through LabMeet aimed to analyze the students' conceptions about materials and mixtures and their possible relationship with their daily lives through conducting experimental investigative classes. The project was developed with students from the sixth year of elementary school at a public school belonging to the State Department of Education of the Federal District. Twenty-five students participated in the investigative practice whose content was the theme solutions and mixtures. Experiments were carried out, article reading and students' knowledge gauged using a form. At the end of the project application, it was possible to assess the good acceptance and development of students of the investigative proposal, allowing the conclusion that investigative teaching can significantly contribute to the teaching-learning process, supporting the construction of knowledge in science classes, in special chemical concepts. ; Dentro da realidade das escolas públicas tem se tornado constantes os problemas que atingem o sistema de ensino no geral, em especial o ensino de química.
