As escolas de samba e as transformações socioculturais no carnaval de Rio Novo:: memórias e representações dos desfiles carnavalescos de uma pequena cidade do interior de Minas Gerais (1960-1979) ; The Samba Schools and the Sociocultural Transformations of the Rio Novo’s Carnival: : Memories and Representations of the Carnival Parades of a Small City in the Interior of Minas Gerais (1960-1979)

Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar parte da história do carnaval de Rio Novo – MG, por meio dos depoimentos de foliões rionovenses de outrora, que retrataram em suas memórias o surgimento e a consolidação das Escolas de Samba no carnaval da cidade entre 1960 e 1979. Dentro dessa temática, abordo a organização racista e discriminatória do arranjo social dos clubes carnavalescos rionovenses, a crise do carnaval de clubes, a ascensão das Escolas de Samba dos negros e a consolidação do carnaval de rua e dos desfiles das Escolas de Samba como a principal atração da pequena cidade Rio Novo, procurando mostrar que esse desenrolar histórico minou parcialmente a tradicional segregação social e racial da cidade. ; This paper aims to present part of the carnival history of Rio Novo-MG, through the testimonies of the olds merrymakers of the Rio Novo that portray in his memories the emergency and consolidation of the Samba School in Rio Novo carnival, between 1960 and 1979. Within this topic, I approach the racist and discriminatory social organization of the Rio Novo society and of the social arrangement of the carnival clubs of the Rio Novo, the carnival clubs crisis, the rise of the blacks Samba School, and the consolidation of the street carnival with the Samba School parade as main attraction of the small city Rio Novo, historical development that eroded part of the traditional social and racial segregation of the Rio Novo’s society.
