      Ieva Kuliavaite, Masters degree in the Psychiatric clinic on the theme of \"Adolescent and adult suicidal behavior evaluation\" the coordinator of the work Dr. Algirdas Jaras. In the work characteristics of adult and adolescent suicidal behavior are evaluated. Research method is the analysis of literature. Criteria according to which the selected materials were chosen: scientific publications not older than 10 years (2004-01-01 to 2015-12-31). The publications were selected from PubMed. From 310 publications 20 were selected which met the criteria. Results. During the research the main points of adolescents’ and older people suicidal behavior was identified. Teenagers try to attempt suicide more often then adults. The morbidity rate due to suicide in adult population is bigger. Race, gender, family history, psychiatric disorders, stress, adoption, imitation phenomenon are the main causes of suicide. Previous attempts – it‘s proven that the risk of suicide increases 5-6 times more then in general population, during the first year of release. Personality disorders, pour social skills and adaptation mechanisms, emotional instability, problems in school, living in discarded family, divorce, alcohol intoxication are risk factors in teenager‘s suicidal behavior. For adults risks factors are family instability and the work which requires less intellect. Diagnostic methods aren‘t accurate enough and need improvement. Conclusion. Both groups have similarities and differences but there are still unknown factors and their influence for example genetics. So it‘s important to improve the detection of these factors and therapeutic methods to prevent suicides.
