      While much of this anthology explores different approaches to education research that focus on policy texts (different types of texts are discussed and various ways of analyzing policy texts have been presented), this chapter focuses on how such studies should be reported, that is to say, whether a report is shaped as an essay, dissertation, article, or book chapter. The research report will also be discussed as both a product (i.e., something to be created and handled by others) and a process (i.e., an activity that takes place over time). The different parts of a report, its content and function will be discussed, as well as how a report author can underline and highlight a study’s strengths and inform about its weaknesses. The latter is of particular importance for the study’s validity and reliability or credibility and trustworthiness. The chapter also contains sections with a particular focus on the function and use of theories as well as on research ethics
