Undoing Discontinuities. A Philosophical and Non-Groundbreaking Approach of the Stages of Judith Butler

In a more approximate way than exhaustive, this article analyzes the Judith Butler's most significant texts in order to offer a non-groundbreaking vision of her work. The so-called two stages of the performative philosophy may be understood as two moments that, though distinguishable, are permeated by the same purpose; the first texts have already shown this purpose, namely, countering the phenomenon of the oppression by means of the widening or dilation, of the concept of humanity. A dilation that emerges when we reject the traditional and hierarchic binary oppositions and that turns the recognition into a vital need. Here is the main theme that, beyond the theoretical displacements, it harmonizes with the philosophy of Butler.
De una manera más aproximativa que exhaustiva, este artículo realiza un recorrido por los textos más significativos de Judith Butler con el fin de ofrecer una visión no rupturista de su obra. Las llamadas dos etapas de la filosofía performativa pueden ser comprendidas como dos momentos que, aunque distinguibles, están permeados por un mismo propósito que ya asoma desde sus primeros textos, a saber, contrarrestar el fenómeno de la opresión mediante el ensanchamiento, o dilatación, del concepto de humanidad. Una dilatación que emerge cuando desechamos las oposiciones binarias tradicionales y jerárquicas y que hace del reconocimiento una necesidad vital. He aquí el hilo conductor que, más allá de los desplazamientos teóricos, armoniza al filosofar de Butler.
