The present article aims to determine the origin of the folkloric expressions highlighting the Catalans invaders impiety collected during the last century in the Greek city of Hipati, the capital of the duchy of Neopatria. Everything seems to indicate that its distant origin must be found in the confrontation occurred in this city during 14th century between the Catholic occupants and their Byzantines subjects, exacerbated by the Latinization of their Church, timidly started by Guido II of La Roche, frank Duke of Athens and regent of Neopatria during the sebastocrator of Thessaly John II Angel Ducas nonage, and completed by the Catalans dominants.
