A memória dos soldados na literatura de confronto

Este artigo tem como objetivo examinar dois exemplos da literatura de confronto ou de resgate. Entende-se por estes termos toda a produção literária que surgiu, sobretudo na Alemanha e na Áustria, após o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial e instaurou um longo questionamento motivado por alemães aos próprios alemães acerca das responsabilidades individuais durante o processo de ascensão do nacional-socialismo e sua vigência até a derrocada final do III Reich. Portanto, toma-se como matéria de ilustração duas obras produzidas por dois autores alemães da geração de 1920 e que serviram como soldados das forças armadas no conflito. Comum a ambos foi uma aversão profunda ao ambiente viciado de caserna, à violência dos treinamentos e o fato de terem sido gravemente feridos em batalha. Diferente entre eles é a natureza das confissões registradas em suas respectivas obras no que se refere à abordagem do tema do extermínio de civis durante os anos da ditadura hitlerista. Enquanto um deles é menos tímido diante dos números e relatos, o outro se mostra menos à vontade para o tratamento da questão, embora não se furte de todo ao debate.
The paper aims to examine two examples of a literature genre in the limits of representation. It tries to cope with a chapter of German history that seemed unmasterable. The confrontation literature faces Hitler’s willing executioners and the responsibilities of ordinary Germans in the genocide since the rise of Nazism up to denazification of post-war Germany. This partially unresolved past finds its roots in previous centuries during which Hitler’s shadow was not yet over Germany. Two works will here serve as illustration for this kind of literature. Both were written by men from the 1920’s generation and both served as soldiers of the German army during the Second World War and faced the Russian counter-attack during fetches in East Prussia and Austria. Besides, they have in common the hate against the spoiled ambience in the camps, the violence employed by the lower officials during the training and the fact of having been both earnestly wounded in the battlefield. The difference between them is the nature of their confessions. While the first one shows himself somewhat shy as to some themes of the past, the second one prefers a more straightforward way of report which brings his text near to the press’ style.
