Référentiel expérimental : nécessité de méthodes d’enregistrement - Le cas des pointes à cran du programme “technologie fonctionnelle des pointes à cran solutréennes” / Experimental Reference Bases and the Necessity of Recording Methods - The Example of Shouldered Points in the Research Program "Functional Technology of Solutrean Shouldered Points"

Experimental reference bases and the necessity of recording methods -the example of shouldered points in the research program "functional technology of solutrean shouldered points". The objective of the collective research project “Functional Technology of Shouldered Points ” (TFPS) was to conduct a functional study of Solutrean shouldered points. This required the production of an experimental reference base that would furnish the objects necessary to conduct the scientific protocols established.Questions concerning this situation were not a priority and were not given particular attention other than insuring validity of the methods of shaping and obtaining products with characteristics identical to those in the archaeological reference base, in this case the assemblage of Combe Saunière. The necessity of an apprenticeship, the obligation of a repetitive production of hundreds of pieces, the frequent consultation of the archaeological reference base better analyzed due to numerous recurrences, and the extended observation time related to the time of realization (approximately 200 hours), revealed the interest of recording of these procedures. This article presents the practical aspects of this method and, especially, the questions that this recording procedure raises for a more profound study of the production systems of Solutrean shouldered points.
Le Projet Collectif de Recherche TFPS avait pour objectif l’étude fonctionnelle des pointes à cran solutréennes. Il nécessitait la production d’un référentiel expérimental qui fournirait le matériel indispensable à la mise en œuvre des protocoles scientifiques retenus. La question de cette situation n’était pas prioritaire et ne fit pas l’objet d’une attention particulière en dehors de la validité des méthodes de façonnage et l’obtention de produits ayant des caractéristiques identiques aux séries archéologiques de référence, en l’occurrence celle de Combe Saunière. La nécessité d’un apprentissage, l’obligation d’une production répétitive (plusieurs centaines de pointes) et d’un retour fréquent au référentiel archéologique mieux analysé grâce à de nombreuses récurrences, le temps d’observation obligé lié au temps de réalisation (environ 200 heures), ont permis de mesurer l’intérêt d’une mise en mémoire. L’article porte sur la présentation de cette méthode avec ses modalités pratiques, mais aussi et surtout sur les bases de questionnement que cet enregistrement suscite pour une étude plus approfondie des systèmes de production des pointes à cran solutréennes.
