Alfred Binet : précurseur d'une psychologie sociale de l'intervention / Alfred Binet : precursor of a social psychology of intervention

JOSE ROMAY MARTINEZ ALFRED BINET : PRECURSOR OF A SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY OF INTERVENTION Alfred Binet, it is suggested, was a pioneer of a type of social psychology which today involves social intervention, and which may be called the social psychology of intervention or the psychology of social intervention. Three areas of Binet' s work may be examined : a) Binet' s ideas about the relations between methodology and intervention, which prefigure modem social intervention ; b) his active psychological interventions in the domain of clinical psychology with retarded or subnormal children ; and, c) above all, his social interventions in the domain of education. Binet already had a clear idea that clinical and educational interventions required taking into account both individuals and the society in which they lived ; as well, its was necessary to act upon both these levels.
