Logro de objetivos y trabajo en equipo de estudiantes. ¿Y si no fuera necesario un/a líder?

El trabajo en equipo es esencial en la formación universitaria. Desde la implementación del Plan Bolonia, el desarrollo de las capacidades de los estudiantes es una prioridad en la docencia. En este trabajo evaluamos la relación entre el trabajo en equipo, el liderazgo y el logro de objetivos docentes, en una práctica de creación de material audiovisual. Para ello, se aplicó una encuesta a 678 alumnos/as de primer año que cursó la asignatura de Historia Económica entre 2017 y 2024, en la Universidad Pablo de Olavide. La hipótesis es que el liderazgo no es un factor determinante en el trabajo en grupo ni en el logro de objetivos. La práctica fue evaluada positivamente por el alumnado y el profesorado y sus resultados han sido presentados en congresos y publicados en artículos y material didáctico. Sin embargo, este análisis muestra que el liderazgo es el componente que mantiene menor relación con la valoración de los otros componentes del trabajo en equipo. Asimismo, tampoco se obtiene evidencia estadística que confirme una relación positiva entre el liderazgo y la satisfacción del alumnado o el logro de objetivos docentes. Los resultados de este trabajo parecen ratificar las intuiciones del profesorado acerca de la carencia de lideres en los trabajos en equipo de estudiantes universitarios y que esta situación no merma los resultados finales.
Teamwork is essential in university education. Since the implementation of the Bologna Process, the development of students' skills has been a priority in teaching. In this study, we evaluate the relationship between teamwork, leadership, and the achievement of teaching objectives in a practice of creating audiovisual material. For this purpose, a survey was administered to 678 first-year students who took the Economic History course between 2017 and 2024 at Pablo de Olavide University. The hypothesis is that leadership is not a determining factor in group work or in achieving objectives. The practice was positively evaluated by both students and faculty, and its results have been presented at conferences and published in articles and teaching materials. However, this analysis shows that leadership is the component with the least relationship with the assessment of other components of teamwork. Likewise, there is no statistical evidence confirming a positive relationship between leadership and student satisfaction or the achievement of teaching objectives. The results of this study seem to confirm faculty's intuitions about the lack of leaders in university students' teamwork and that this situation does not diminish the results.
