      The present work explores the effect of the variable demand on the textile associations affiliated to the Institute of Popular and Solidarity Economy of Ecuador. They lack of a standard to handle the production planning and control. The manufacturing associations, specifically the textile production ones have a variability in the quantity of the products to produce. Factors have been identified: order management, order distance, production planning, order cancellation and order rejects. They influence on the different processes of this type of associations and the affect their management. Internal policies, terms and conditions are proposed at the discretion of the association to be applied for incoming orders. Also, a production planning model based on master production planning, material requirements, and production capacity planning is presented.
