An exposition of web application design - modern trends and popular technologies

Web design is a process of delivering an electronic page to Internet users, which is an important task with high demand by many online businesses. In this thesis, we present an exposition on some of the most popular techniques in web design recently. To get an overview on the subject, we first systematically describe the general ideas and requirements to enable to create a good web application. For instance, the importance of User Interface and User Experience, the Responsive Web Design Approach, as well as how to create dynamic contents using a database along with security problems. Then, we present in detail some popular and recent technologies that would help web developers to handle those requirements more quickly and easily. In order to do that, we approach these technologies from front-end to back-end aspects of the web. For the front-end, besides the basic web programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, we focus mostly on Bootstrap Framework due to its convenience and popularity. While in the back-end, we took a liking to Spring Framework with its modules such as Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Boot, that can cover many aspects of a Java web project. We also mention Thymeleaf template as a bonus to use along with Spring Framework. Finally, we show a sample project that demonstrates how to apply the technologies efficiently and dynamically, using all the technologies mentioned before. The project is a part of the real project that the thesis author developed during his internship time at Robert Bosch company, with some contents modified due to the company rule. Through the project, we demonstrate how responsive design, dynamic information, and security can be achieved easily by using the frameworks in previous chapters.
