      O objetivo deste trabalho é revisitar a aplicação e a validade dos Testes de Julgamento Gramatical (GJTs) em pesquisas de Aquisição de Segunda Língua (SLA). Os GJTs são largamente utilizados em pesquisas lingüísticas desde meados dos anos 60, e, desde então, sua validade é motivo de discussões entre teóricos da área. A partir de resultados de pesquisas realizadas por autores como Chaudron (1983, 2003), Birdsong (1989), Schütze (1996), Sorace (1996), Mackey e Gass (2005), entre outros, constatamos que os GJTs podem ser um modo válido e útil para obtenção de resultados, em pesquisas de SLA, se seguirem algumas condições para que obtenham mais validade e credibilidade. Portanto, nosso principal propósito nesta tese é propor condições que devem ser levadas em conta quando os pesquisadores optam por esse tipo de teste metalingüístico.
      The aim of this work is to revisit the application and validity of Grammatical Judgment Tests (GJTs) in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) researches. The GJTs have been largely used in linguistic studies since the beginning of the 60’s and, since then, its validity has been a reason for discussions among scholars of the field. After results of previous researches by authors such as Chaudron (1983, 2003), Birdsong (1989), Schütze (1996), Sorace (1996), Mackey e Gass (2005), among others, we have noticed that the GJTs can be a valid and useful way of getting results in SLA researches if they follow some conditions in order to be more valid and reliable. Thus, our main goal in this thesis is to present some conditions which have to be taken into account when researchers choose that kind of metalinguistic test.
