      The research aims to analyze, from a feminist epistemological framework and approach, the role of Criminology in the production and reproduction of power relationship, studying how women were perceived in their different schools of criminological thought, understanding that the adoption of gender as a category of analysis contributes to the production of a wider knowledge in this science, unveiling the invisibility of women's relationships towards to crime and to the Penal System. The methodology consists of a literature reviewing that crosses several disciplines, such as history, sociology, criminology and feminist theories.
      A pesquisa tem o objetivo de analisar, a partir de um referencial epistemológico feminista, o papel da Criminologia na produção/reprodução de relações de poder, estudando como a mulher foi percebida em diferentes correntes de pensamento sobre a sociologia do crime, entendendo que a adoção do gênero como categoria de análise contribui para a produção de um saber mais amplo nessa ciência, retirando da invisibilidade a relação das mulheres com o crime e o Sistema Penal. A metodologia utilizada consiste numa revisão bibliográfica que atravessa diversos campos do saber, como a história, a sociologia, a criminologia e as teorias feministas.
