    • نبذة مختصرة :
The chapter argues that the convents of the religious orders (Franciscans, Dominicans and Augustinians) played an important role as spaces of circulation of medical knowledge and practices during the first century of the colonization of Mesoamerican territory. Confronting the enormous problems related to the health of the population, originated by the so-called 'encounter' between the Amerindians and Europeans, a new medical culture was brought by indigenous and colonizers. Circulation of medical knowledge and healing practices took place, very prominently, in the space of convento, a building complex that the orders disseminated throughout the territory controlled by the colonizers.
