      Based on the prosographic method and employing the analysis founded on the social networks’ theory, this article studies the social links of the members of the very first juntas de gobierno in the province of Costa Rica during the Independence period of crisis. The analysis of political, family and economic links enables to conclude that the main actors of this historical episode founder of independent Costa Rica was clearly related with the old colonial elite.
