نبذة مختصرة : Various skin ailments are treated with traditional medicines in Assam. In the present study, an attempt was made to explore the traditional medicines and practices used to cure eczema and related skin ailments. This study was conducted for a period of one year i.e. from April, 2019 to March, 2020. Focal conversation was arranged with seven traditional healers and an online survey was conducted among 30 persons of various age group and background having minute or heavy eczema or other skin diseases from different parts of Assam. During the study, a list of ethno-medicinal plants and zoo-therapeutic agents related with various skin diseases was prepared; and traditional medicines with their preparations were documented. Total 24 plant species and four zoo-therapeutic agents were recorded. The purpose of this study was to assess traditional knowledge regarding skin ailments that form a baseline data for future pharmacological and phytochemical studies to identify important species used for skin medicine.
